Germany One Euro 2002 Coin

Obverse

At centre, the obverse of the coin shows the Federal Eagle of Germany with outstretched wings.

Below the eagle is the date of issue: 2002; below right, a small letter represents the mint mark of the issuing mint.

The twelve stars of the European Union (representing the twelve original member states), on a background of thin horizontal lines in the outer ring.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin shows on the right a representation of a map of the member states of the European Union as of the time the coin was issued.

Behind the map and interrupted by it, six vertical lines connect the twelve stars of Europe – six around above right, and six around below right.

On the left, a large numeral value: 1; on the right, overlaid on the map, the denomination EURO.

The designer’s monogram LL (for Lue Luvex) is below right in the rim, below the O in EURO.
